Getting Those Blog Comments

ecommerce-3Getting comments on your blog means much more than just getting feedback on what you’re saying. People who take the time to respond to your blog have often bookmarked you and hopefully linked to your site. Regardless, getting blog comments is something that you should have in mind if you’re promoting your blog and want to get a better ranking. There are a few tried and true methods that help you to get these blog comments but remember that you need to be sure that’s what you want. It’s not the purpose of ever blog to get feedback.

  1. The idea behind this method of promotion is not always to sell a product or service. Some bloggers just want to have a conversation on the topic with other people who share similar interests. Remember that people like to be informed when others leave a comment so it’s a great idea to offer an RSS feed for replies as well. That gives people the motivation to take an active interest in your blog.
  2. Write in a clear and concise way. All too often blogs are confused and/or muddled and although it’s apparent that the blogger has a point to make, quite often it’s not clear just what that is. Remember that one of the quick ways to turn someone off your blog is to write badly. Here it helps to write down a few points before you start on the blog.
  3. Do something to engage people. Generally people love to give their opinions. When you ask for them on someone’s blog, you’re sure to get responses and some additional traffic to the blog. Another good technique is to ask a question that demands an answer.
  4. Make it easy for readers to comment while keeping security in mind. You want readers to comment and throwing too many procedures at them will complicate the whole thing. Making them log in or register can send some people away but moderating comments yourself is a good idea. Remember here, however, that you need to be timely. Making readers wait too long is another way to turn them off.

Remember that you need to plan a strategy for getting comments on your blog almost in the same way that you need to get a great design mapped out in the first place. When you find the best way to do that, you’ll find that getting comments on your blog will keep it fresh.
