Internet television is taking over from traditional tv

by Randy vertical

Internet TV and the standard tv are colliding and are due to change the way we watch and how we see television content. Currently competition in the areas of internet access and Cable television are pretty much not there. The cable companies provide the so called high-speed access dont want viewers to cancel their contracts and begin watching television on the internet. But it is already happening and users are doing just that. In their droves.

The content companies make the majority of their money from broadband connection sales. They have a monopoly on this and currently their technology is better currently than other suppliers.

It has even been suggested that the cable companies who supply the broadband are keeping the speed low and prices high because they dont want the added competition from internet tv suppliers.

The general public want more variety in channels and choice of what to watch. Endless repeats and other garbage is not welcome especially when your paying high fees. When you visit any internet TV websites such as worldtvpc, Hulu and YouTube, you see how diverse and large the selection of video and tv streams is. The best thing is that most of this content costs nothing at all. And even on Demand tv is very low priced. For example an episode can cost just $0.99. If you choose wisely and dont mind waiting a day after airing for catch up tv then you can get all your online tv content free.

To try and keep subscribers whilst stopping the rise of internet TV. Cable companies are keeping the broadband speeds slow (compared to other parts of the world) and even charging you per megabyte downloaded!

However this is having little effect on internet televisions takeover. The market is being inundated with new innovative start up companies are bringing out technology making watching internet TV easier.

Television manufacturers like LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Sony and many more are bringing out new digital HD TVs that have Ethernet sockets as standard. Making them ready for immediate internet connection and with built in browsers full access to the video and TV websites.

The Games console companies have also jumped on the internet television bandwagon. Microsoft with the Xbox 360 which has direct access to websites like Netflix for video on demand. You can also rent movies and TV on PS3. Youtube can be viewed on Nintendo.

And at the same time, manufacturers like Roku, Apple, TiVo plus Vudu all want to be the dominant internet TV set top box.

So get ready because pretty soon all your tv viewing will be streamed from the web. Complete with all the variety, choice and on demand viewibng you can handle.
